Broken Heart Syndrome

Dying of a broken heart. It can happen. It’s real. Broken heart syndrome is usually caused from a burst of stress hormones after trauma. Things like losing a loved one, car accident, shock, divorce, etc.

There have been case after case of people dying shortly after losing loved ones. As if their spirits just gave up. As if their light just burnt out. Grief is hard. Unbearable at times, and it often brings thoughts of death as a way to end the suffering. However, there is hope!

The suffering WILL PASS.

Weeping may last through the night,

but joy comes with the morning.

Psalms 30:5

God is not blind to the brokenhearted. Just as Jesus wept when Lazarus died, God’s love is evident to those who grieve.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted,

And saves those who are crushed in spirit

Psalm 34:18

Call out to Him when you are crushed in spirit. Call out to Him when you are brokenhearted. He will comfort you. He will save you and bring you through the fire refined as pure gold.

Don’t hide your pain. Don’t try to drown it. Don’t deflect it. Grieve, with hope. Mourn, with strength knowing you WILL be stronger at the end of the pain. Knowing you will comfort others who will also feel the depths of the pain you have walked through because you have walked through it and have come out the other side and didn’t let your heart fail you.
